Kittie Klaw is a burlesque queen with an Empire. An international burlesque star, producer and writer, Kittie is also the veteran founder of the infamous Ministry of Burlesque. |
As today’s doyenne of the classic British burlesque tradition, Kittie is one of the world’s most exciting and influential new-Variety performers. As a ‘veteran’ burlesquer she is a composite curiosity - a comedienne, model, classically trained dancer, satarist, character actor, writer and academic with a flair for the clever and the splendid.
Kittie’s unique performance style fuses 19th century theatrical tradition with personal eccentricity and 21st century edge. Her shows are both beautiful and poignant with dramatic theatrics which highlight her recherché sex-appeal. Her repertoire includes solo, duo and troupe routines which are defined according to two contrasting methods - her burlesques and her ‘dream dances’.
Burlesques are spectacular character based routines which involve musical narrative and satire - particularly the sending up of literary, historical, symbolic or topical icons and values. Think Eliza Vestris, Gilbert & Sullivan, Lydia Thompson and Carry On.
The ‘dream dances’ are Kittie’s own original showgirl-style sequences which are designed for a ‘risque aesthetic’ of classical movement combined with exiguous costuming. Think Les Follies Bergerè, Sally Rand, MGM Musicals. An extended show (Revue du Reverie) is available via MoB Productions.
Every one of Kittie’s routines is a unique and original Signature showpiece.
Britannia!
What is Britain’s proud image worth today? Has Britannia been reduced to mere Tabloid titillation or is she still an Imperialist fantasy? ‘Fearless Leader’ Kittie is Britannia in this burlesque of the warrior goddess. See the once proud, Commander of the Seas and Conqueror of Nations stripped down in this ‘infamous’ red, white and thoroughly blue routine.

The Solitary Vice (from ‘Victorian Values’ - Kittie’s debut musical comedy)
In this burlesque of Victorian sexual morals Kittie Klaw is ‘Kitty De Winter-Fairbotham’ - an unmarried young lady who engages in the perilous activity of reading - alone. After succumbing to its most titillating diversions, she comes over a little queer. In a frenzy of dainty excitement, one wrist and ankle at a time she climaxes in excitable rocking chair fun. Includes a frightfully modest ’striptease’ and prop comedy.

10/10 Cats Prefer…
True to her name, Kittie is a kitty utterly personified in this burlesque of a haughty, naughty pussy cat indulging in the evenings indiscretions. This feline satire features a dazzling couture costume from What Katie Did and elaborate props. With quirky affectations and seductive prowling moves, this show piece is a triumph of satire and seduction combined. Involves elaborate props and set.

A Prayer to Isis - Ancient Egyptian Beauty Ritual
Don’t be fooled by the title! This is a send up of the often sober-serious classical belly dance which also questions that old adage ‘pain is beauty’! This burlesque of a ‘beauty ritual’ takes the audience from dark, mysterious sensuality to painful comedy in one routine. Includes belly dancing and dripping candle wax. Optional wing dancing.

Eye Spy
This is Kittie’s singular homage to the American burlesque-striptease.
Kittie is ‘Agent Klaw’ in this burlesque of Film Noir espionage. This show tells the story of a seductive Spy who is double crossed in a tale of secrets and suspenders. Agent Klaw must think quickly when her cover is blown but will she succeed in ‘inconspicuously’ abandoning her disguise? Includes non-nude classic striptease and nipple tassel-twirling.
When it comes to glittering showgirl specific pieces, Kittie’s trademark style is her dreamy, swirling, shimmering and alluring ‘Dream Dances’ . This ‘Revue du Reverie’ features individually themed routines which are ‘waking dream figments, tangible fantasies and visions of illusory movement’.
In creating these, Kittie has uniquely combined her wingdance with the traditional fandance to create a signature style of ‘two complimentary routines in one’ where the result is an entrancing ‘visual lullaby’ or inducement of reverie. Drawing on numerous influences from world dance and animal-wing movement, these shows are truly splendid.
Each of these pieces is designed to create a special mood or atmosphere and features Kittie clothed in matching exiguous attire for gorgeous aesthetics.
Each of her Dream Dances includes large ostrich feather fans and 10 foot organza wings with variation of music, costume, performance style and thematic accouterments.
Below, are Kittie’s ‘ready-made routines’ but variations in theme, music, costume, fans and wings are all possible. Special commissions are also possible on request.
Moulin Rouge: Fan/Wing Dance
Here, Kittie pays tribute to Moulin Rouge showgirls with a decadent traditional Fan Dance and dazzling organza wing dance in a red and white ensemble featuring delicate crystal skinwear. Kittie often performs this with a classical ballet twist. Although risqué in attire the piece is elegant in style and performed with grace to a re-mastered old-recording of Lucienne Boyer’s ‘Parlez Moi D’amour’.
Midnight: Fan/Wing Dance
Be star-struck with this dreamy number. In the spirit of midnight, Kittie scatters stardust as she performs a ‘visual lulluaby’ in a dazzling white and blue ensemble complete with cobalt blue fans and shimmering white wings. This star-gazing piece is performed to an assortment of sophisticated and dreamy music.
Salome: Fan/Wing Dance
Performing in tribute to the dark and macabre figure of the biblical seductress named Salome, Kittie emerges as a cloaked femme fatale going on to dance in a fusion of Middle Eastern and ballet styles using both black feather fans, shimmering ghostly white and elegant black organza wings to the sombre tones of ‘Danse Macabre’.
Ethereal in motion, the wing dance can be also an excellent installation piece too. It is a beautiful alternative to a fan dance and can be performed in various colours, to a variety of musical scores, atmospheres and costuming.
Think 19th Century Music Hall with 21st Century attitude!
Kittie also performs in a burlesque double act with the fabulously talented singer-impersonator, Mr. Jim Devereaux. As a song and dance duo, they are an uproarious medley of variety, Brit Wit and burlesque.
