Kittie reports:

“Hello to everyone we met at the 2007 pageant and a massive thanks to Luke, Laura and everyone who made it all happen.

It was an honour to be part of such a distinguished event and to have our critic skills put to the test as James and I helped to have another Burlesque Queen crowned.

As the pageant was such a feast of talent and style it was a great moment for our British Burlesque scene to have fellow Brit Immodesty Blaize hailed as Miss Exotic World 2007. Huzzah! and Kudos to Ms Blaize - the competition was impossibly tough and it was heartbreaking for all the judges to have to make any critiques on such an array of talent.

So many innovative and expertly executed acts were on show and special kudos should go to a few performers who although they did not win a particular title, they stunned me where I sat and won sincere MoB admiration:

Diamondback Annie, Kalani KoKonuts, Pinchbottom Burlesque, Kissing Cousins and Albert Cadabra.

It was superb to see the infamous Tigger and Julie Atlas Muz in action and as always, Foxy Tann and the Wham Bam Thank You Ma’ams blow us all away with their energy and vivacious performances. Little Trixie and The Evil Hate Monkey were an absolute treasure - you must see their routine.

The standard across the pageant was extremely high and i urge all serious burlesque aficionados to attend it next year. The mix of American tradition (Striptease, Glamoiur focus) and the more satirical styles on display has prompted to me to write my musings upon the divisions and overlaps between the Amrican tradition and our older British tradition, where it seems the difference in definition is not so much one of pure semantic meaning but one of reversed time lines. Watch MoB Magazine for more on this coming soon”
